Sabal Mexicana - Whole Tree
Sabal Mexicana - Whole Tree
Sabal Mexicana, 2022 - Whole Tree
Available in Small & Medium
As a young plant, The Sabal Palm had lived in RBGE’s third site near Leith Walk, before being transported to the Tropical Palm House where it thrived throughout the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
In 2021, as the palm neared the end of its life and the Palm House was being prepared for restoration work, RBGE Botanical Illustrators painted the 200-year-old tree ensuring the Sabal Palm would live on through three artworks.
Sabal Mexicana 'Whole Tree', 'Leaf', and 'Fruit' can be arranged together as a triptych or as individual prints.
Artists: Jacqui Pestell, Işık Güner, Sarah Roberts and Sharon Tingey.
Location: Currently on show as part of the Silent Archive exhibition at Inverleith House.
