Published to coincide with the first solo exhibition of the American abstract artist Cy Twombly, titled 'Cy Twombly: Philosophy in Paint' held at Inverleith House in 9 August - 27 October 2002 as part of Edinburgh International Festival. The exhibition was focusing on 50 years of Twombly's career through various different mediums and practices he used such as sculptures in bronze and plaster-covered wood, works on paper and photographs. Works based on botanical subjects and natural forms, interpretations of plants and gardens were particularly picked for this specific exhibition.
